First Symposium for YouNg Chemists: Innovation and Sustainability

June 20-23, 2022 - Department of Chemistry of the University of Rome La Sapienza

CONFERENCE THEME

The First Symposium for YouNg Chemists: Innovation and Sustainability (SYNC2022) is an International conference that takes over the legacy of the Young Researchers Conference (Convegno Giovani Ricercatori, CGR), an event which has been organized every two years since 2002 by the Department of Chemistry of the University of Rome La Sapienza to offer the young researchers of the Department the opportunity to present their scientific work publicly, with the aim of promoting ever greater collaboration between research groups and to provide young people with ideas and tools for the construction of new research projects.

Starting from these premises and aiming at developing transnational collaborations among early-stage researchers from different universities across Europe and, possibly, worldwide, we have decided to rethink the format of our original Young Researchers Conference opening it up to International participants, to become the First Symposium for YouNg Chemists (SYNC2022). The conference, which will take place in Rome on June 20-23, 2022, will be in presence and be dedicated to innovation and eco-sustainability.

SYNC aims at fostering the realization of the objectives allowing long-term sharing of research and innovation projects: stimulate the mobility of PhD students, prepare the new generations for future changes through joint educational programs at PhD level and offer exchange opportunities for the development of research and innovative projects in response to local, regional and global challenges.

The topics of the conference will focus on how Chemistry may provide an answer to the main societal challenges, both at a local and a global level.

Preparing a competitive MSCA actions application MasterClass: Writing a MSCA grant proposal

SYNC2022 will be associated with a MasterClass-like school, dedicated to the preparation of competitive proposals for the European Community funding programs dedicated to younger researchers (Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions - MSCA).

The school will be aimed at young researchers who would like to submit a proposal to MSCA actions, in a short or long-term perspective, to guide them in writing a competitive research project. This objective will be achieved through activities aimed at providing a clear understanding of the application process (evaluation, application components), the expectations of the panel and the reviewers (evaluation criteria, questions and answers with panel members).
